Rhombeus fin rot ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yea, could be either a bite that didn't heal right or deform

doesnt look like a disease to me. Your rhom will be fine if its just deformed or an healed wound. I wouldn't worry about it other than just the aesthetics of it which wouldn't bother me, but its your fish.

Since it already appears to have grown wrong, I don't think there is much you can do to fix it (besides cutting it off and seeing if it grows back straight...) but time will tell.

I mean I wouldn't do it. I know some people cut a bit of fin off show arrowanas so they grow back more visually appealing I guess.

the fin would definitely grow back but you will put the fish through a lot of stress when netting it and cutting it off. You would have to sedate it with clove oil first.

I wouldn't do it. Its a perfectly healthy rhom, and I wouldn't risk the stress in order to attempt to make the fin grow back straight

It may also just have been kept in two small of a tank for a while and wasn't able to utilize the fin. With enough room and proper water conditions it might just grow back to normal on its own.

I would definitely wait a little and give it a chance on its own before trying anything drastic

Is there a way it can be healed ? He can't die from it right ?
Well i gess it'll just take time and i dont honestly know if it will eventually heal all the way (my red belly is still rather young so i have no idea what the fin will look like when it's older) and no i don't think he will die from it ;)
