I told you. That's all I have to say. I thought it would end that way. :D

awesome. apparently, a band is a political party, so i can't have that avatar anymore and i'll probably get a warning about this, too.

Normally I make a thread for the UFC ppv's, but I didn't this time so I'll just post my thoughts here that I normally post in that thread.

Thoughts:

Rich Franklin Vs. Wanderlei Silva - I think this fight went down as most people thought. It was a war after about 2 minutes into the first round. I thought Franklin looked likie Franklin does, which is turning out to be pretty good. Silva was Silva, throwing bombs, and really threw some fast strikes and combo's once he got in tight with Rich. I thought Rich did win the fight, but Wandy made a late push. Wandy was throwing his arms up to get the crowd going, but also I think that move has a dual purpose of trying to show that you are the one pushing the action and not your opponent, which is fine because in the 3rd Silva was, but if he would have fought like that from the opening bell he would have won. I wish there could have been 2 more rounds to this fight, but I think this was a very good fight, especially with what the future holds for these 2 guys. Rich will make some noise in the Lightheavy class because he can hold his own with anybody, he may not be the best fighter in that class but he is very good. I think a future matchup with him and Forrest would be outstanding. A more realistic upcoming fight may be with K-Sos (with another win), or the winner of Hamill/Vera.
Silva may not have a lot in the tank, but we can still see that whatever he does have left, he is will ing to give. I don't think anyone at 185 wants to fight Silva.

Cheick Kongo Vs. Cain Velasquez - This was a cool fight because I have been a big Cain supporter, and this was his first real test. I was surprised that Kongo seemed better on his feet than Cain because Cain has pretty soloid stand up, but Kongo does have some quick hands. Cain was dominant on the ground, and it is weird to see a guy of Kongo's size just be out muscled on the ground, but thats what happened. This fight was a case of 2 guys knowing exactly what they needed to do to beat the other one, and one guy being able to execute it. Kongo could have won if he would have been able to stand up, and Cain did win because he took it to the ground. The interesting thing is that normally it's the veteran who wins fights like that, and in this case, it was the more inexperienced guy who won. Cain will continue to get better, and I think he might get the belt one day, I was impressed by this fight even with his taking shots at the begining of the rounds because it showed me that he can adapt, and don't forget, Kongo is a pretty darn good fighter. It does look however that Kongo may just be a gatekeeper and not a real contender, and thats sad for a guy who has as many gifts as he does.

Mike Swick Vs. Ben Saunders - Swick looked real good here, and especially because Saunders looked to be the bigger fighter when the fight began, but it didn't matter much because Swick fought smart and strong. Swick has turned himself into a real solid fighter, and I like his approach to the sport. I think Saunders can still be a good fighter too, but he just isn't at the level that Swick is right now. Swick reminds me a little of Florian in how they have improved.

Marcus Davis Vs. Dan Hardy - This was a good fight. One of a few that I thought could have gone either way, and really I think should ahve gone the other way. I actually think that Dan Hardy is a better fighter than Marcus Davis, and I think he has a chance to be a real threat in the UFC, but I thought Davis won this fight. I always say if you going to win one round, it better be the last one, and thats what Hardy did. He put a hurt on Davis in round 3 and I think that won him the fight. I'm cool with that becasue like I said I think he has a brighter future and I would like to see him get a bigger fight now, but I would have given it to Davis.

Spencer Fisher Vs. Caol Uno - This was an interesting fight because it kind of seemed like "old school vs. new school" or maybe more like "East meets West". Uno is a very good fighter and I think has quite a bit better technique than Fisher, but in this day and age of MMA, I'm just not sure how many guys like Uno have enough technique to make up the difference in strength that the new breed of MMA fighters have. I thought watching this fight that Uno was a better fighter, but I had no idea how he could ever really win that fight. It seemed that Fisher was just too strong for him to throw, or use his technique effectively. Not to mention that when Uno made great moves or combo's to come in and strike that they didn't really phase Fisher, and the half-hearted(in effectiveness, not effort) counter that Fisher would throw did just as much if not more than Uno's well thought out attack. This is one of the others that I would have switched. I thought Uno came on strong at the end of the fight and should have won, but I can also see easily why the judges did what they did.

Mirko Cro Cop Vs. Mostapha Al Turk - All I'm taking out of this is that I think that Al Turk has a chance to still be a good fighter for the UFC. I'm surprised how much guys go at Cro Cop with the record that he has, but so far in the UFC they have been successful. The eye poke was not intentional, and the official just missed it, but really if Al Turk would have kept one hand on his eye and then extended the other towards the official motioning for time like guys do when they take a shot below the belt, I bet he would have gotten the time. Puttin both hands on your face that makes you basically looks like your covering up, or crying, does not convey well enought to the official what happened.

Denis Stojnic Vs. Stefan Struve - I know this is a off the beaten path one but this was a matchup I was looking forward to. Struve has a lot of potential but is really young, and Stojnic is one tough dude. Maybe not real good, but certainly tough. To see Struve get a win here is a good sign for him, and I hope he keeps improving because he could be fun to watch at his size.
