Try holding the plug that goes into the phone for 10 seconds so that you kind of push it in, sometimes crap gets in the charging port of your phone. Clean with a toothpick if need be.

Or take the battery out and restart

It could be a loose or bad charging port, had a phone with on and I would have to wind the cord around the phone so it was tight and it would charge that way.

^ that'll damage the charger I would think

i'd guess the wires inside the charger cable are strands and not a solid wire. but either way, the stranded wires are super tiny and they will break a little at a time until you have a weak current flow or none at all eventually

That's plausible but now there is a new twist.

Last night I powered of the phone before charging and when I awoke the phone said 100% charged but when I powered it on I was actually at 38%.

Could be a battery issue. A lot of these aftermarket batteries that suppose to hold more power are cheaply made. They don't hold longer they hold less even though physically the battery looks thicker. The best battery always seem to be the original OEM batteries that come with your phone.

Have you taken the battery out and then plugged it into the chargers? A good charger should still power the device without the battery, a bad one shouldn't.

Also, get a real charger for it. Like someone mentioned, using nonspecific chargers can and will damage a phone, smartphones being even more susceptible to this. And that damage is not covered by the warranty. No, this is not just a way for them to make you buy a charger from them, having fixed them for a living before.

Pulling battery did nothing.

The extended life battery was made by samsung for my phone but seems to be the culprit. I put in the original battery and it charged in the house, atleast one time anyways. Going to monitor things a few days before calling at&t and doing the whole pull battery and what color is the sticker song and dance.

Going to have to research another extended life battery since the stock barely lasts a workday do to poor signal in many areas of the building.

Might want to get a charger for work if they let you plug in there, much easier.

I can plug in and its technically not required for me to use my personal phone for work but I'd rather use my phone than carry a radio. I'm an electrician and we're doing a 25 story hospital building right now and my foreman often calls me with hot jobs to handle, if I had my phone on a charger I'd just as well go for broke each day and hope it makes the day. Usually its not too bad unless I'm on a mechanical floor or in the basement, unfortunately I'm in the basement right now.

i personally took the company phone and dropped personnel, free Motorola android or Iphone upgrade every 2 years? no brainer. i also have a radios at work. Phones more for vendor calls and Emails. radios for keeping in contact with crew and other department needs.
