Any mamalian meat will foul water up quickly. Then is hard to get it clean again. Not worth my time at all.

I feed my black pacu a little dog food from time to time for show, you can hear him crunching it, it also likes cherry tomatoes and carrots
cats are true carnivores, so feline diets contain considerably higher levels of protein than canine diets.
I think I'll try the beefheart thing, you know next time I have a beefheart lying around in the fridge. 
If you've ever been fishing for catfish there's a method of "baiting" that involves a can of dog food.
You get a can of wet dog food tie a ball to it, poke the can full of holes and drop it in the water. In an hour or so drop your line straight down and you'll pull up catfish after catfish.
I think most people frown on this practice and I don't do it myself. I've just heard of it being done.
