Ridiculous rat allergy...

Haven't heard that, although some animals have problems digesting excess fur...

I bred tame rats for some years and after a nest of 14 I developed an allergy.
Scratches by the rats will cause terrible itch and sneezing.
My wife got a new one several weeks ago, and I got my astma acting up again...
And I hate it!

Karma...it's payback for all the bludgeoning and broken necks over the years...

I've been starting to notice I've been having a similar reaction lately. Not really the itching, but after a long day of feeding (2 hrs +), If i'm still in the room with the feeders I sneeze a lot and sometimes cough. Other then that I haven't experienced anything else.

What I think is strange is that it's an allergy that developes after prolongued exposure.
And my rat is not to be eaten, she'll be around for quite some time!

Certainly sounds like it. Maybe if you have a large collection maybe split up feeding times a bit so you break up the amount of time you spend with them.

It's actually quite common, especially with chemicals.
