Ok i got a question..ive been a fisherman for some time..and im curious what you guys are...but im confused on the whole left and right hand retrieve im believing its just how it sounds..but im ambidexterious..and my dominate hand is left..and its comfortable for me to pull up with my left on the rod while my hand is on the right (handle) so wouldnt i be doing right hand retrieve..?? thanks for answering..

my conventional outfits are rigthanded and spining is left:nilly:

so your saying right handers are left hand retrieve? cause my cousins bf is right handed i believe and he does the same as me and my cousin..us 3 have are left hand on the rod and the other on the reel but im still asking would that make it a right hand retrieve for me?? one of the reasons i ask is im gonna buy a reel for spring and summer fishing and need to know..:)

I too am left handed and feel more comfortable reeling with my right hand. My "educated" left hand also does better at thumbing the spool of a conventional reel while casting.

"Only left handed people are in their right mind." :D

well since were talking bout left handers i find it disappointing how everything is right handed..

Never thought about spin setups being left retrieve. But I also spin cast with either hand- can hit some tight trout stream spots others can't or would have to cross to the other side to hit. Working on doing the same flyfishing. I am not truly ambidextrous but I do use a mouse with my left hand exclusively. To me there should not be a "correct" hand to do anything with- use what is comfortable to you.

yes but like online for instance bass pro theres left and right hand retrieve is right hand retrieve with the handle of the reel on the right? if so that answers my question..overall

Spinning im right and bait caster im left !

I did it cause I would get some pain in my wrist when casting heavy baits all day long(8-10hrs) !
