This is a fish deal that i had with another member.First let me say i drove 5 hours to the area were the other fish keeper was from.We met in the parking lot of shark aquarium.The fish were individually bagged and in a Styrofoam box.The seller told me the fish are thin because they were all kept together and he was shipping some of the fish in a few days so they have not been fed.I looked at the bags and the fish were alive.I brought the fish into shark aquarium because it was 90 outside and they would stay nice and cool.I was showing someone that works in the store the fish when he said bring the fish out back and he can re bag them as a few of them were loosing air.I brought the fish out back to get re bagged.Lifted the first bag out and there was a dead kelberi(200.00):{.I emailed the seller and told him and he said he will see what he can do.I thought the answer was clear,refund my money?I did not see what there was to think about?I questioned the 7 day not eating period and told the seller that i thought not feeding a fish for 7 days was way to long,esp with bass.Not feeding any fish for 7 days will weaken the fish no doubt.Well he took offense to my opinion and said that he had been keeping fish longer than me and he knows what he is doing and that i am going about this the wrong way?The funny thing is i have been keeping fish for 38 years.Now i get this mail {{I spoke to numerous people reguarding it and they said its no different than shipping where except it was alive last time I saw it}}

so who is right??

Honestly, I think a responsible seller would've at the very least been up front about the fish not being very healthy. He could've been honest and given you the choice of whether you wanted to go through all that effort. I have been burned by seller's in the past and it really makes you mad. There are people that really care about the fish and about helping people in the hobby while making some money on the side, and then there are people that view it as money and don't care about you or the fish. Sadly, it sounds like this person was either ignorant to what he did to the fish, or just didn't care. Either way, he should be making it right for you. And on top of it, you drove 5 hours out of the way. You had to have driven out of state living where you are and that probably involved tolls on the pike. i think the rules are a bit different when shipping, but since it was a face to face transaction, he can't blame a parcel service for mishandling. And it was his responsibility to bag the fish which he failed at to even transport them. I really feel he should be responsible and either get you replacements or give you credit to his store/refund you. Thats my opinion on it. I'm dealing with my own seller issue myself so i feel for you

YOU ARE IVE SEEN PICS OF YOUR STUFF N DEALT WITH YOU THAT PESRONS A DUMBA$$ FOR FASTING THEM THAT LONG. I WILL PROBLY HAVE TO SELL MY SUPER JUMBO MONO SOONER THAN LATER IF YOU'D BE INTRESTED, IM SURE HE'LL MAKE TO YOU PLACE ALIVE N WELL.

doesnt sound right. i had a guy meet me to buy a lima shovelnose. i had him out of the water too long because he got stuck in the net. the guy drove all the way there so i took the fish as well. it was still breathing and still alive 'the last time i saw it' however i knew there was a chance it couldnt make it. i gave him the option to take it or to leave it. i told him in the event of its death i would make it right with his money or a trade. thats the right thing to do.

very nice of you to offer.I will pm you.

others thoughts on this??

you dont starve a fish for a week before you ship, 3 days at the most. especailly a fish like cichla where they live in warm water and their metabolism is rediculous. Mine use to look skiiny after a day of no food lol. Sorry you got screwed jess. There are always people that are more concerned about themselves then others. Hopefully we will find out who he is.

This is why when I purchase or sell, I request that fish the fish be put in a cooler or rubber maid, or I put it in the same when selling. Then AC or battery air pumps can be used and fresh water may be added at any point.
Also, this way I or the purchaser may see whether the fish is active, to thin or any other possible malady. If I find that the fish is not up to my standard I wouldn't hand the cash over.
With that being said no need to fast a fish for 7 days, 2 is sufficient. Personally I would give the cash back.

And you have kept fish for 38 yrs, I would not have thought you were even close to 38. :D

You deserve your $ back. If he doesn't comply within a week or so blast him on the forum so that others don't have to go through the same thing.

I am not a blaster,lol.I will simply never deal with him again.I believe in Karma.
