Smoking pair you got there...I cant wiat for mine to get a little bigger. I hope my female gets that much red...she is on her way.

thank you guys:) and NolaGT im surprised yours havent taken off like these two. Ive noticed when i had them divided before there introduction they would eat alot and the male grew very fast and started developing a nice hump. and as soon as i pulled it and they paired out and spawned their appetites slowed down. I have one other female that has the potential for the reds like this one out of the group of 7 females i had. but thats not saying the other girls arnt beautiful as well. and i have more expectations from this female. i think the rest of the color will come in as she matures and possibly here in a day or so when shes guarding fry:)

I have mine divided still...I would guess they would spawn but I want them to get a little bigger first and I think the spawning will slow that down. My female is only about 3" max maybe smaller.

What size tank are they in...30L or a 55?

they are in a 55:) try some shrimp and massivore and keep the temp around 82. and i agree i think the spawning does slow them down a lil, or at least the female. how often do you pull the divider?

I never pull it. She plays with him through it looking like yours with the black bands. He hasn't really banded up yet that I have caught him. He got over the divider one night and was wearing her out. They are growing pretty good and stay fat. I just got them when they were real small 1" or so. I plan to move them to a 55 with a egg crate divider before I start to let them try. They are in a 30l now. I need to set up my 125 for the 1m 2f 9" ornatum im trying to spawn so I can free up the 55 I am holding them in for the RTM.

i definitely wish you luck on your pairing with the ornatum:) i got my rtms around 1" as well. i grew mine out in a 125 and pulled out the larger ones and put them into different tanks so the others could grow. my male was one of the smallest out of the group. once i moved him into the 100 is when he started coming out of his shell. when i moved him from there i put him into a 55 he was 3" then 2 1/2 weeks ago. i put my largest female 4-4.5" in with him first cause she was looking fat with eggs and i thought she would be a for sure thing. i kept them divided for a few days pulling the divider and letting them pair out. the male was alot smaller but he was definitely putting it down lol. after a few days i thought that since i only had one male which meant i would only have one pair, i decided to put in the more colorful female 4" in with him and pull the larger one out. by this time the male was 3.5" and was a lil wore out from trying to pair with the larger girl. so i gave him 1 night to re-coop then i pulled the divider and let them go at it. well all was going great so i left them unsuprivised for half hour and when i came back his fins were a lil torn and the female did a number on his upper lip. so back went the divider and i left it for a few days so he could heal up. during which time they were going thru the motions thru the divider and i couldnt take it any more and pulled it again. the first video shows that meeting. they paired up instantly! there wasnt anymore lip locking or fighting, just head shaking, rubbing on decor, and cleaning house. 2 days later they spawned!! all this happend rather quickly lol the fry should be free swimming tomorrow or the next day:)

I bet once you move them into a larger tank its gonna be on;) and you should have them paired and spawning soon:)

I got 8 and had them all in a 30l. The male I have was the largest out of all of them and actualy killed a couple of the others. The female was the 2nd largest of all of them. He was more interested in killing the other fish than her...but he still whipped up on her some. It came down to just having these 2 one other female that was the smallest of the group and 2 males. I was going to grow out the last female and pick one to keep bit someone I know really wanted a female...so he was going to take my last female and the 2 remaining males as well so I could just divide these two I have now since it was getting rough in there. I took the 3 in a 5 gal bucket with a lid and the 2 males killed the female before I could make the trade. So this female was my only option but she looks good to me. Maybe not as much red down the side of her body as yours but she is smaller and still seems to be getting more red. She's good looking regardless....one if my fav fish now. I have a pair of yellow head fredies too that are bigger...nice looking fish but I can't wait to see these rtm at there size.

Are you goingto divide them back up or will the co mingle with out killing each other now?

your female will def continue to color up as seh matures and especially during spawning. everyone ive talked to says once they pair its for life.... but i know nothiing is ever permanent with fish and ill definitely keep an eye on them as i do with all the others. but there bond seems very strong so i doubt ill have to divide them agian. I do have an extra female if your interested, shes 4.5-5" lol the biggest i have. i have a total of three available and two are spoken for, ill confirm with the guy and see if size matters to him cause the smaller females are around 3-3.5"

I hope they mellow after the bond becasue both my fredi and rtm male are flat out murders and have a few notches on there belts. My fredi just about killed the female I have for him...tail was totally gone...she has healed up mostly now so I was going to cut some holes in the divider to let her pass but not him. I wont need another female unless he kills her...and im sure shipping from Alaska wouldn't be to pretty.
