Rio Negro Biotope almost finished

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You make a great poiint. I overstocked the rummy nose due to their high mortality rates. I Wil have to thin down 1 or 2 leopoldi as they grow as wel. Great eye!

do you find that the angels and predators eat them regularly?

P.S I like the wood in that tank, did you get that at the lfs? do you know which type? :)

interesting. As i get more into the hobby, biotopes really appeal to me; I want the book "Bleher's biotopes", last I checked it was too expensive for me though lol

It is an arm and a leg. I want it too bit can't justify the cost.

All of it is manzanita except for three big base pieces which is mopani.

You can get manzanita through florists, websites, ebay, and lfs in california.

Cheers! Did yours float extensively when first added?

The manzanita in the lfs' i visit all tend towards smaller pieces, its a shame

Yes. The big pieces take time to sink, the small pieces sink fast.

You can pick your own wood. Stanzzzz7 has an amazing setup and I think he picked his own wood.

Thanks mrrobxc.
Yes I source most of my own wood.I used oak and apple.

yeah that's another superb biotope! I'll do a little research, I'm going to be around Galloway Forest in the near future; hopefully I'd be able to find something. I'm very keen on the spidery wood that looks like its extending down into the tank, right now the wood i have is the solid driftwood, and it just kind of sits plonked on the bottom :/
