Hey just wanted to show a update on the Rio Tapajos red Aimara that I bought from Jeff Rapps a couple of months ago, the fish came in very very small, he said they were 2" but mine was more like a 1" I was surprised to hear aimara for sell at this size, but being from the Tapajos I thought I'll pull the trigger for a rare chance to own one but as this fish grew from 1" to 7" the doubt grew with it, not sure if its a true aimara at all, definitely no black mark on the side of the Gill that says hand down aimara, also the fish has no Red color at all.

Looks lacardae.

Both of these wolves were bought as rio tapajos aimara from rapps as well. I even have a photo when they were much smaller. They are definitely something else.

I contacted Jeff a month ago and told him that I don't think that these fish are true aimara and that his supplier sent him a unidentifiable wolf fish, and he assured me that they came from his Asian contact and they use GPS to pinpoint and locate these fish and that they are true aimara, so I questioned him about the lack of a black mark on the Gill plate and he sent me pictures of so call aimara with out one, saying they sometimes don't have it but out of all the multiple aimara I have own and friends have own every true aimara had a black mark

You are right, because he told me his self that he's not a specialist in the hoplias species, and he also took the advice from a member on this site trying to identify them.

The big question is should the people that bought these fish should be reimbursed a difference in price for a mislabeled problem, I know Jeff didn't do this purposely, but I think his Asian supplier pulled a fast one on him and his customer's in up spending more than the fish is worth.

That was me a few times might've been others too lol. Me and him had plenty of emails. I try to help him make corrections if I see something that Ik is wrong personally. Ofcourse only if I'm certain.

I think the people that received these fish should be happier they got something for less. They are lacs in my eyes, anything from tapajos will cost a pretty penny due to the location alone. Let alone if it is indeed a lac? Would probably have costed more if he knew. The only true lac we have full life reports on is DB's.

From what Im aware of getting a fish from tapajos is not only expensive but life risking...
