Just switched back to South American from keeping Mbunas, looking for any suggestion's on the setup. Trying to keep as close to Rio Tapajos fish, using Redmoor roots and river cobbles with sand as the substrate. Currently housing 5 adult(2M3F) Geophagus sp. 'Tapajós redhead', 5 (2adult) Satanoperca jurupari, 20 Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis(Lemon Tetra). Plan on adding a Leopard Frog plec a Starlight Brisstlenose Plec and 12 Corydoras Ornatus.

Setup is a 72"L x 24"W x 18"D 134us Gallon tank with home made stand, 2 APS external canisters (1000 1400LPH) 47" Fullspectrum LED Light. After being in the tank 1 night so far 1 pair is already cleaning a site for them to hopefully spawn.

Very cool!! I was going down that route with a 6 pack of red heads but had issues sourcing affordable lemon tetras. It is a 2'x4', 120G footprint and I planned for at least 40 tetras. Instead, I came across some Mesonauta and started a mellow SA community. Chasing the biotope theme is a tough way to stock, but you're doing it.

Not able to get any catfish at the moment as deliveries to UK from Brazil are hard to get at the moment planning on adding an L134 Leopard Frog plec, a Starlight Brisstlenose Plec and 12 Corydoras Ornatus as soon as shipments are back on.

I went back and edited my pleco and corydoras question as I read further your post after I had already posted. I was just too excited by your pics and theme.:headbang2

I got the Tapos and Jurapari last night they are full grown which I'm happy with, the guy done a 5hour round drive to bring them and swapped for my Mbunas. Otherwise not that easy or cheap to get at the moment 3" ones here cost about £25 each.

Removed the big rocks and moved a bit of the wood then done a water change which has prompted 2 pairs of the Redhead Geos to spawn each end of the tank, they only defend it if anything comes within 6" , heres a pic of the left hand side pair spawn1.jpgspawn2.jpgspawn3.jpg

Thanks very much, not been able to find many pictures of Redhead's in the wild but read plenty of discriptions so I have just tried to do something even remotely close. I'll post an updated picture of tank tomorrow.
