The male is the one in the back of the first and third picture. He has the more yellow on the face and more red on the side. Also the males fins are edged in red and the females are edged in white.

I believe they are part of the Astronotus ocellatus group. From what I know they are wild caught Rio Tocantin Osars and are probably the only pair in the U.S. These fish belonged to John O'Malley (Celtic Samuri) who recently passed away.
