These are true wild caught?
 
How are they not Crassipinnis? Their eyes are too small for Orbicularis and the patterning is wrong for Rubrocellatus. And their vertical banding is far too bold for Ocellatus.

I think the only person the could possibly answer this correctly is Seiichi being that these fish came from him and were part of John O'Malleys collection. When Jeff Rapps had these posted Seiichi I believe posted the these were Ocellatus. Just like the Rio salto oscar which is similar except no freckles.

Very nice!! I remember Jeff posting them now. If only I had the tank space back then. I think you win the prize for the best looking O's in the states:drool:. Love the freckles on them!!!

110% agree.

the spots all over them totally make the fish unique. i would have given up close to a weeks pay for the wild pair you got (and that aint no pocket change either:naughty::naughty:)

they sure will make some mighty fine F1's when they finally get it right for ya
