ouch :|
im really scared now >_< i have a 11" n a 10" NTT ( on massivore too...) ... everytime I see one of these sudden-death-syndrome ntt thread, it gives me a heart attack >_<

My regards, I just (more like a year ago) had a datnoid that died that I raised from a 2 inch long fish. I kept him for 11 years and having him die was terrible.

Sorry to hear about your Dat. If your not giving up on NTT's , I have a 11" I am selling. Shoot me a message if your interested. Good luck with your other fish.

nice fish sorry for your loss
its mad how ntt grow to about 12 inch then dont grow much more in lenght but get much much thicker and the stripes get thinner
sorry again for you loss yours had the bulk im talking about

It seen like there is no cure. I also got one 11" NTT, no matter how we monitor the fish it still happen (SDS). SO sad

Thanks again guys. Also just wanted to throw in a slight conversation starter here regarding tank size to growth. Not that I'm a fan of JDM style keeping but I kept this NTT the entirety I've owned him in a 75 gallon with 6 earth eaters 2 severums and random plecs. Not exactly the most spacious environment (I knew he wouldn't last in the 240 that had all the bruisers so he had to go in this one) and I still got him to a pretty large size. Which leads me more to believe tank size isn't as major a factor as water quality and feeding (datnoid wise, don't try this with an arowana or RTC lol). I'm not saying cram a dat in a 10-20gallon long but with just the bare minimum of space (I think 4 feet should be the bare bare bare bottom minimum for a fish that can get to 14") and with excellent conditions, even in an overstocked tank, cranking out a monster should be very possible.
