RIP "kittyfish", my 29" achara cat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've been gone a long time and just read your response thebiggerthebetter...Thanks bunches, I do appreciate!

We've decided to find a home for our rtc. I emailed the zoo, but haven't heard back yet. I'll probably have to call. I feel like one of those irresponsible owners, but I want to give Jaba the attention he deserves. I've been keeping up with the other (4) tanks, but I've no desire to fiddle with the big one or to continue the indoor pond plans. Therefore, I'm going to post on the appropriate forum about rehoming him. I feel horrible about this too. We've gone back and forth on this, and it's me that's torn. I just adored my kitty fish that much (8+ months later)

If I was closer, I'd take in your Jaba :) but you have achara x tsn hybrid and giraffe catfish too. They will need a big home?

If you are close to Ohio, there is an abnormal number of big-fish keepers there, including Cleveland.

I didn't know that about Ohio. I did put up a post under the Northeast section saying Jaba's free, but so far no takers. I've a few fish that will get bigger, but they're soooo slow growing. The achara x tsn, giraffe and 2 irridescent sharks have been doing great in the 125g, somehow. THink it's from the heavier filtration in there. I've a stingray in the 75g, but she's still a pup. I've been trying to plump up the hybrid and giraffe to eventually move them in the rtc tank, but Jaba's growth keeps exceeding them. Once I rehome him, I'm going to break down the 265, do some work on it, then re-do the entire thing so it won't look the same. It's been all black (black trim, stand and background) and bare bottom

Plus, Jaba's been doing okay being alone in the tank. Swims around constantly. I"m sure that in time I'll get over all of this and continue on with the indoor pond for him. But, as for now, it's all put on hold.
