I dont think the bichir made him sick. Probably just strses, like you said. Most likely he is just buried somewhere in the tank. Good luck finding him!
 
This is reminding me of my elephant nose. He was 7", big enough to not get eaten, but disappeared overnight. I checked all compartments of my filter, under my stand, behind the stand, in the sump, no animals to eat it (Do elephant noses even jump?). Not a trace, that was 3 months ago. Sometimes mysteries never get solved.

That's so bizarre and frustrating. Sometimes you hear that they've managed to flop far away from the tank.


Still no sign of my del, I've been watching closely during feeding time because this guy was always the first to eat. I figure if he doesn't show up for that he likely isn't around :(

:( found his little dried remains while moving the tank to our new house today. I'm going to try to clean him up and see what I need to do to preserve him for display.
