Hey my new fish got here in great shape late last week. This is fun stuff...

That quick picture was just a tease. These fish that I got are seriously great. Here is a quick view of the Steatocranus...

This fish really is engaging and with lots of personality just like the descriptions I read. They don't have swim bladders and this fish really does sink like a stone when it stops swimming.

I gotta work on getting pictures in the tank. The tank is still a mess and will need an afternoon to get it closer to photo ready.

I'll try and get a pic of my buddies male. It was one of the fry I gave hime years ago. He is a full 5" long with a massive head hump.
These are great fish. They also apparently mate for life. If one of the pair dies, the other will not breed again. I have witnessed this when separating fish. They won't choose another mate, even though there are lots of options for them.
Now lets see some in tank shots!

Is that the buffalo?! Looks great! I can't wait to see him in the tank!!

Yep this one is an S. casuarius.

Yeah I like this fish a lot already. I hope that I can grow this individual up big. I had wanted to get a little group with hopes of at least a couple pairing off, but I was only able to afford the one. It has a pretty big hump already so I hope that it might be a male fish.
