They will literally eat anything they are like vacuums.. They come from Africa.

i'm aware that they'll eat anything...mine has proved it, lol. but i was curious as to what they ate in the wild. i'd like to match that if at all possible.

Psuedodoras niger, they come from south america. I think they are also called something like mother of snails catfish by the natives because they leave a trail of crushed snail shells. Would assume that snails, worms and stuff are their natural diet.

cool, that makes sense. i didn't know why they were called mother of snails but that makes sense. are they also called thorny sided cats? we have a larger fish that looks a lot like my guy in our local zoo that they call thorny sided.

Oxydoras Niger "ripsaw catfish, mother-of-snails"....I have one myself. Sinking carnivore pellets are best. Shrimp peices, if the other fish dont get it first. Pretty much anything they will eat. They sleep a lot, but become active when they are hungry. You can tell they are hungry by active swimming, searching for food and pectoral and dorsal fins are sticking straight out. Don't grab it with your hands he can cut the mess out of you. They are really unique and fun to keep. Nice fish...here you go for more info:
