Risk of pellet training for young aro

give it time your arowana will eat pellets. i feed my arowana with arowana sticks but sometimes shrimps/worms and now he is around 18" :)

Try a marinade. Find out what he likes better, shrimp or tilapia. Make a broth out of pellets. Soak the pellets in a little water, when they get soggy, smash it up. Now u have a broth. And marinade shrimp or talapia. Keep it in the refrigerator of course. And feed him for a few weeks. This way he aquires a taste for pellets. Then starve for a few days and drop in some pellets

I dont want him on mp. Just straight up Pellets. I figure its better doing it young now than later down the line when its more stubborn. Hes always been on mealworms and maybe a few roaches. He spits out the frozen bloodworms.

ill try soaking the pellets to see if it helps

The idea is to somehow let them have a taste of pellets.

The aro now bites it a lil.

I think if u put the mealworms n pellet same time, so now it knows they r both food.

Just try stop feeding him for a max of 48hrs. It won't kill him as long as he is healthy. Then try pellets

I stopped feeding my 3.5-4" for that amount of time. Now he's pellet trained

Fifth day. Still chews & spits it out. Im trying this approach, throwing in one roach & pellets together at the same time so it dont starve to death & will recognize pellets as good also

Any suggestions?
