I actually think the dead one that was hanging up was a Faulkneri.......

is this the one we commonly see as ceja ray?

As mentioned before, they are not the same ray. As a matter of fact they are members of two different genus. Cejas belong to Paratrygon and brachyura belong to Potamotrygon.
