cant really say... $600 was for large specimens the $18 price is for a
.5 inch specimen.
Well good lord how large was it?I still wouldnt sell a fish that was worth that much as an adult for so small an amount as a baby.

i know some one who baught some well see how it goes they bought about 60 lol

Let's just say I bought quite a few myself ;) .

I've done business with RW many times before and have yet to have any issues. They were the first to bring in Armatus a couple years back in good numbers..Mine came in, but didnt make it through acclimation. Ivan promptly sent me a replacement, no hassle.

He was also the first to bring in Intermedia. The few 12"+ you see floating from owner to owner in the US were from this batch.

I spoke to him yesterday, and the description on the site is worded incorrectly, and unintentionally misleading. As mentioned before, he speaks primarily Spanish and I find myself speaking spanish to him myself because it is much clearer what is being said. They have a batch of baby cichla. .5"-1". I don't know if they were lifted from a nest, or if they were eggs taken from a breeding pair.

Point is, the fisherman didn't get a good look at the parents so they don't know what species these guys are. They are not from different batches, it is one batch of fish. They are too small to ID and therefore can be one of a number of species.

What the description SHOULD say is, the fish COULD be Intermedia, Azul, Orino, etc because of the collection site. There is no possibility of them being Ocellaris or Monocs because of the same reason.

SO...the way I see it is, at the worst they may be Orino's...for which $18 is still a fair price. If that ends up being the case, I keep a few and distribute the rest to lfs and Hobbyist, if not then this was a steal no matter the species.

For those debating the legitimacy of selling potential "$600" fish at $18, RW is a WHOLESALER. I worked at one...they are middle men...bring in fish, acclimate, ship out. They do not have the time nor resources to focus on one tank of fish, while you have $10k+ of other fish to care for and ship.

If youve bred/raised young cichlids of any kind...it takes a LOT of attention for the first few weeks.

SO...your call...but those are my 2 cents ;)

i'd take a shot at it if i had it, but everything i just sold for my orinos is bill money. Good luck to everyone that did get them, wish you the best and hopefully u have some rare fish that someday you'll sell to me cheap, lol.

my understanding is they are all "something", but not different somethings mixed together.

this is the same company who tried to dupe everyone thay had an aimara. And when shown it was a hoplias black sp and they agreed. They still sold it to some unknowledgable hobbiest. I just say becareful and verify...
