Rock Bass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use to catch them through the roots of a big cedar tree that was growing in the bank of a little lake by my house. They would run with the jig, and get stuck around a root or get the hook into one and come off. They were so fun to catch... I spent whole summers fishing for them when I was little. My grandpa always wanted me to trout fish, but I was more interested in the Rock Bass... Now I need to go back there to catch some... only lake I've found them in, but they have totally remodeled the park, and took my Cedar tree out :(

your almost right ..

A. rupestris, the largest and most common of the Ambloplites species, has reached a maximum recorded length of 43 cm (17 in), and a maximum recorded weight of 1.4 kg (3.0 lb). It can live as long as 10 years. These fish have the ability to rapidly change their color to match their surroundings. It is this chameleon-like trait that allows them to thrive throughout their wide range.
