except that even with rock salt the rock background weighs 150-250 lbs. i have four 18x6x24 pcs built already and they are heavy. each rock is 1.5 to 2.5 bags of portland cement. this way i can use the cement i have, use the foam covered in cement and use my existing live rock (300-400lbs) to do the back and both sides. remeber this is 48"wide and 46" tall

Oh for whole panels, def. use the foam. I was thinking you were doing individual rocks. You might even want to leave on the foam so that your concrete doesn't break or reinforce it some other way. A panel that size will def. flex while your handling it.

ever think of mixing styrafoam shavings into the concrete to lighten it up, like in mythbusters... lol., i didnt realize that it was you, and that your putting this in your huge tank, did you think about making it all inside of your tank insted or trying to move it?

Like siliconeing the foam or spraying it inside the tank and shapeing it inside the thing??? then useing a slury and painting the foam with concrete?

thats the plan. as of now i have 4 pcs of cement. once the tank is in place i will put the cement rock in, then use the foam for all the rest then cement the foam and other rock toether to make it look like one giant surrond. the goal is to have no seems between the rock showing. then i will add the live rock a month or so after the curing of the cement is done.
