I used to like rock but have switched to sand imo its a lot easyer to clean. Bare bottom is realy simple to clean but I just don't like the look of the clear bottom if it is painted or has something under it it is a lot more apealing
I have gravel but always wanted to try sand. Just too lazy to clean out all the existing gravel etc. I'm also worried about having to wait for it all to settle before turning the filter back on.
