Me personaly if I would set up an African setup I would use rocks with some caves. But the Q. Is if they NEED them. If your getting Mbuna or juvi's, yes I think you should. Is it what they see in the wild, no. But in my exp. which is not as much as other on here I must say, is that my larger Haps(species wise) could care less about the rocks. They just hang out in the open water. Some Africans create a territory in open water so to say that they all need rocks IMO I don't think is 100% correct. It all comes down to is research, research, research. Don't pic one because it looks cool, but pick one that is going to fit what you want.
