Yes I have. maby wash the rock with hot water"No Soap". Hand scrub it. And maby dont use lovarock, :D Here is some pics of rock I have used frome the out side.:D
If you find the right rock it can look realy sharp.:D I use to have a tank with all rock from around my yard.:D :nilly: :nilly: :irked: MY PICS WONT UPLOAD

I use rocks from a stream that runs through a park near my job. I wash them in hot soapy bleach water, then rinse very well then boil 2-3 times for about 45 min. no problems to date. In fact i was just rock hunting for my 125.

Can you put any rocks from outside in your fish tank ?

Unless you live in a mine, all rocks are from "outside". LOL Most igneous and metamorphic rocks are fine, sedimentary rocks are usually not a good choice.

I found a rock today with little fossils of shells and other small things. I think the rock is limestone. I was wondering if I could clean it up and put it in my tank ?

Limestone will make your tank alkaline. So, if that's what your fish like...go for it.

You can't put just "any" rocks in your tank. The colloquial rock may contain different forms of copper, lead, mercury, iron, arsenic, molybdenum, sulphur, asbestos, etc. If you're unsure, take the rock to a state geologist or the museum and find out what's in a rock before putting it in a tank. Even cleaning some rocks can cause the release of detrimental materials into your household.
For the most part, you're OK with granites, agates, and quartz. But, as with everything else, do the research before adding anything to your tanks.

Yes you can put almost any kind of rock in your tank, but remember just to clean it first, and try not to use one that its composition its full of minerals, like the ones that comes from Mines.
