today i go to feed my cichla's and well my dominant mono chases the tem around the tank, the tem hits the heater (glass heater) and breakes alot of it!! Glass peices fly sink to the gravel and scales flying around.. >.> it was a sight to see. I cleaned the glass and replaced the heater but dang he screwd it like it was nothing!!

all cichla are fine but woah.. anyone have this happen to them?

should i do anything (med's wise)?

first of all, to make sure that glass doesn't go drifting into your water again, get a stealth heater.....there made for our monsters and therefore wont shatter

med wise---I can't help you there

Wow you have many more story's to tell in your future I will tell you that.

Med's- nothing comes to mind other then plenty of water changes!

and thats why filtering through a sump is great, no heaters in the tank..
your fish should be ok, just like HCR said.. water changes :D

melafix is good for open wounds if your cichla has any. if it's just lost scales it's probably not necessary.

one of my catfish got scewered by a plastic plant.. had about a 1/4" gash in his stomach. took a little effort, but we got the plant out without doing more damage, and we treated with melafix according to the directions on the bottle. he never missed a beat, never missed a meal. and his wound is almost completely closed now. it's only been about 2 weeks.
