Well as promised here are pics from the plains of africa exhibit. This is their baby giraffe, I'm not sure how old it is specifically because it was born before my intership started. Also is their elephant katie eating. Then the crowned crane and their african wild dogs. They have four and all are brothers. And their wildebeest which they got in 2007.

Now tropical america which has had a lot of renovations done over the past couple of years. The cotton top tamerins were released into the building a while ago and are adorable. So are my favourite animals in the tropical america exhibit the newly added giant anteater and the prehensil tailed porcupine. Also the three toed sloth is there but hes lazy. There are a bunch of birds too which i couldn't id. I also put up a pic of the green tree boa. The anaconda has been m.i.a. for about a week i think shes in vet care:(. I put a pic of my favourite flamingo who alwatys comes to say hello to me.

i thought there was more than one elephant?
They have 3 females katie (pictured, missing a part of her ear (amputated due to infected wound)) Alice (the tiny one) and amy (the big one)

And now the marco polo trail. They have crowned cranes and snow leopards on the trail but the cranes are boring and the leopards weren't out so no pics but the moon bear (one died so we're down to 1) was out chillin on a rock. The camels were hangin out (i always forget their names) and gloria and her baby (white cheeked gibbons) were more interested in the people than their toys. i couldnt get a shot of the male louis. They also got a red panda (cuteness that could kill you)

And australia asia. Theyre working on the inside and the snakes in the big reptile enclosure were hiding but i got a snake neck turtle pic. This is the only fishtank there. It has one clown knife, 2 archerfish, and 5 tinfoil barbs. Also i got the tree kangaroo and the old otter exhibit which now holds ducks. I didn't really have time to take pics of any of the others but ill try to tomorrow.

Then the'res the north american trail nd wetlands. The Red Wolves have been moved to a temporary exhibit until the trail is fininshed so no pics:( but i did get the bison and the ealges, and no it is not mean keeping the eagles there they were injured so badly in whe wild they can no longer fly so we house them at the zoo and they are a male and female so they hopefully will breed. diddn't take pics of the proghorns (again no time) but i was able to get a pic of the goose's nest along the trail, the european carp that live in the pond and Bertha. Bertha is a snapping turtle which has lived in the zoo for over 30yrs and has had numerous babies. She is usually not seen often but this is the second week in a row ive seen her so she must like me. and then just some random painted turtle
