Hi folks,

I have a 55g with a 6" Sen. Bichir, 4" ABK, 3" Ctenopomoa leaf, and 9x Congo tetras. Is my tank stocked/over-stocked, or do you think I could add something? Some tank-mates I've already had/considered are:

Syno cats (was concerned about them getting too much protein and bloating)
Severum (seemed ok)
Krib (would he get eaten?)
Pearl gourami (aggression with the leaf?)
Another Sen. bichir (too much bio load?)
A. butterfly (seemed kind of boring)
Angel (?)
Others (???)

If no new sp. are a good idea, should I just add some more Congos, or would even that be too much?

Thanks for any comments!

i would say for a 55 its not over stocked an if you got the filtration i would go with another bichir or 2

You get definitely add another senegal or two... As long as your filteration is good.

My 55g is good and stocked... lol

Filters are AC110 + XP1, which I think are sufficient...my current senegal is *super* fun, so it would be neat to have some more...I think I have to make sure I get compatible size, though, yes? If I added a little 2"-er I think he would get eaten, right?

Yeah i would be concerned about the bigger senegal eating it. My friend just had his 2 inch Del Hezi bichir eaten by his 3 inch Endli bichir. Endli's are lower-jaw bichirs, so they can eat bigger prey i think, but i still think the senegal is very capable. I would aim for a bigger one, maybe around the same size or not too much smaller.

Your filteration sounds decent.

I may be concerned about a 2" sen, but anything bigger I wouldn't be worried. They love to be in groups.

Ok folks, I stopped by LFS and picked up a 4" albino senegal! See some pics below....So far, albino seems to be adjusting well. I have seem some "aggression" though from my resident senegal (who is probably more like 6" actually). Have seen big sen biting new sen -- but almost more like he's trying to figure out if the new guy is food....anyone have experience with something like this?

It's just part of their communication with each other. Sometimes territorial, sometimes more out of curiosity. You would be able to tell if they wanted to hurt each other.
