Beyond pissed off! Let me start by saying I do have experience with saltwater fish. I currently own a 125 gallon reef. Anyways, my roommate who is new to fish keeping and left me this disaster! I found a 35 gallon Rubbermaid with 6 dark common goldfish and roughly four dozen rosy reds. Its got s hob filter, fish are feeding and appear healthy but I know this is cruel right?

I can buy a 200g pond in two weeks. Will these fish make it until then, and if so how? I don't want to just give them away I'd like to perhaps grow out and start breeding these babes.

Thank u mfk!

I know this is awful but this is what she left me. Two hob filters, ones for 60 gallons and the others 10-15. Room temp water, lots of rock and brickwork which was for the fatheads breeding cover.. the only other setup beside this i have atm is a ten gallon aquarium.. so what to do with 40-50 rosy reds and six common goldfish from 2-4 inches? So far I'm sticking to %50 daily water changes, will they make it?

just reduce the feeding and do normal water change then they can be OK for quite a while. I've done this a lot with my sick fish.

Thanks everyone, so I should move some fish to the ten gallon? That's 50 or so minnows and six commons. I feed them twice a day. Am I just worrying to much?

Also if you notice the cage net in the setup; its housing around two dozen reds.. should I just release them into the main tank?

I'd like to breed some reds but I'm guessing this shoal is too large for any successful spawning activity?

I would release those in the small cage, and maybe remove some of the rock work, but not necessarily all. Just make sure you can vacuum waste out really well every now and then during your water changes.
