Got him. About 10 inches long. Will try to get better pics as he comes out of hiding. He ate the lady's entire collection of neons. guppies, and female bettas. She was told it was the perfect addition to her peaceful community tank.

That is sooooooo hard to believe that that sweet guy did that.. but oh well i quess they are all different.. he is beautiful and lots of luck with him.. i love mine.. so sweet and really looks awesome when they start moving all over the tank..button up the hatches they can excape!

Thanks. First thing he did was curl up with a pleco and the swam around introducing himself. The convict was not impressed and bravely flared and postured at his tail.

that poor lady my rope has eaten fish twice the size of his mouth. i have had my rope of 5-6 years now and ive only had him jump once but i would cover any hole. some how my strainer on my intake got knocked off and my rope swam up in it. well i didnt know he was in there and noticed my filter was running like it was pluged so i went to take off the tube and out came my rope and he FREAKED out swiming around the top of the tank baning on the lids and found a small spot in the back that i uncovers next to my filter cuz he hadnt tried jumping in 5 years well he got out and got alil banged up but hes ok now.

i have kept mine in a comunity tank with sa/ca cichlids and he has been fine. i have seen him go for weeks with out eating so if you dont get him to eat dont fret mine mainly eats hakari pellets along with my cichlids and frozed shrimp. get him alil somthing to hide in and he will be a happy camper. mine lives in a piece of 3/4 PVC barried in a pile of clay pots......

So far he swims around, turns his nose up at the frozen food and curls up with the pleco. Every so often he goes over and studies the pictus cat then swims away. The only one who doesn't seem to like him is the convict.

I used to have a pair of ropes... the only question that hasn't been addressed several times is the size of the hole they can escape through. My answer?? ANY size hole. The main thing you need to remember, if you have a hang on the back type filter, is that they will swim up INTO your filter, get over the cartridge, push the lid off and jump from there. Be sure your water level is low enough that the water does not contact the spout for the filter. Also, as far as frozen food, mine LOVED frozen beef heart cubes. I didn't see a lot of predatory behavior - they just weren't fast enough (or smart enough) to chase down their food, and preferred to lie in wait. They did great with my plecos, and better with my bichirs. Ended up trading them in to a better home so I had more room. Good luck with yours - they are a very interesting species.
