In terms of feeding, once the fish is happy and comfortable he will come out and feed. It takes time for certain fish but given the proper tank mates I've found that pretty literally anything will recognize feeding time and come out. But I get sheets of frozen blood worms and brine shrimp. Chop the shrimp up a bit, put them both into a cup with water and stir it into a chum, then dump and spread it into the tank. It's healthy (especially shrimp), they love it, and this ensures that some will make it to the bottom in case he's not coming up to eat just yet. They'll also eat algae wafers if they're broken into a couple bite sized pieces. Hopefully this was helpful
Now everyone is chillin, but I've been too afraid of trying the ropefish into the 6-7" groups of fishes. Ropefish is only about 7 or 8" only.
