I have had my ropefish in my 55g for about 6 months and luckily he has never tried to escape, he was really shy the first couple months but now he likes to be hand fed worms and when im cleaning the tank he swims around my hand and through my fingers its really cool. he is by far my favorite fish in my tank and I just ordered another from my lfs so he will have a buddy in the tank!!

I had 2 in a 500 gallon. Lost one when he went through the over flow and ended up in the filter pad of the sump. After that I put aluminum screen over the overflow. No trouble after that. The tank had a lip all the way around the edge so escapes weren't an issue.
Just wanted to share a nice pic of my huge almost 14 inch rope, i love this guy i first got him as a dither but he has a great personality, always watching me and swimming on whatever side of the tank im on. Plus he rounds out my polypteridae collection lol
