A tank with the minimum foot print of 36x18 inches would be the minimum 48x18 inches
would be better
Ropefish generaly reach 15-20inches in home aquaria-Anne
i have a 24" rope and its still growing max size is 36" i believe and i have seen them this big before they get long but not very big around my 8" senegal is twice as fat as my rope is
id go with at least the 48x18 footprint. its good that your thinking about housing more than one, they do fine by themselves, but they much prefer the company and do even better together
My tank is about 59 x 19 inch, so that would be fine for a group of rope fish.
I'm now thinking of getting a group of rope fish because I wanted a delhezi, but I can't find them here (Holland). Senegalus and palmas are the most commonly found bichirs here, but I don't find them as pretty as the delhezi.
rope fish get along with just about any other fish as long as they are not to aggressive of a tank mate my ropefish is out all the time and i am also thinking of getting more since my 110 will be lossing some of its inhabitants to a bigger pond in the basement so i am thinking of switching the 110 to a fully planted tank my ropies would love that
Make sure you have a TIGHT lid, these lil buggers like to escape. So if you have them make sure they cant get out. I love 'em tho I would get a few as well, just need a tank for them to go.
