I had one for almost 2 years and added a bicher in with him and 2 days later the bicher killed him

It does take them a while to find the food.
I feed after the lights go out. That way they don't have to compete with the other fish in the tank

I've never had a problem feeding my ropes. They zoom in on the food immediately and even regularly steal pieces of food from the cichlids in the tank.

Sorry to hear that shepp. That's a long time for a fish. My oldest are 11 years now. Ornate bichir and synosontis angelicus.
