Ropefish Has White Hard Patches and a Bloody Tail

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't believe they are more prone to illness than bichirs, but maybe need secure hiding places more than bichirs do.

Sounds like a bacterial infection, I have seen pictures of this in other ropefish, and it progresses quickly, I dont' understand why.

The infection can be cured with various antibacterial meds sold for ornamental fish, plus good old fashioned clean water and environment.

What is your tank setup like?

Tank setup has 2 large amazon swords in one corner as well as some rose bud swords and a large piece of driftwood on that side. There's a cave in the other corner and a large log for them to hide in. Neither of the ropes or the bichir use the log but like to be in the little cave or in the leaves of the swords.

Looks like internal infection.
