I'm pretty sure this is where ropefish threads go. Anyways here is my unusual ropefish. A friend gave him to me after he was kept in an uncovered(I had 4 separate ropefish all jump in the past through little spaces in the lid) 55 gallon tank and only fed feeder fish(this might have to do with his high activity). He is very active and very photogenic. He is never shy, very curious(i.e. syphon pic), eats everything and is an all around great fish. I say he is unusual because I've owned many rope fish in the past and they spent all day hiding, where very shy/skittish, and also very picky eaters. Mine eats literally every food offered in my aquarium and will swim to the top to take it out of my hand. Those pics of him eating silversides, no joke, he will eat around 6-8 a night along with pellets. My rope is also around the 14-15 inch mark so he is decent for size. Here are a few pics of this rope fish. Please share pics and stories with your rope/reed fish.

That's a very nice ropefish! I just got mine not too long ago and I haven't seen it eat anything :( It's around the same size as yours and is very active as well. I just wish it would start eating!

Ya, this one wont even look at bloodworms :( There's ghost shrimp and guppies swimming in the tank with him and he doesn't pay any attention to them. This is annoying.

Nice looking rope been tryin to find one or two for my tank

It's just that people keep them alone. They don't feel well so they hide, eat badly and try to jump out of the tank. I have 3 and they are out all day and eat all kinds of stuff.

I love these fish, but ive had bad luck with them, one went up an intake tube and the other died on my birthday... I'm looking for more though.
