This is my Rotkeil Severum that is about 5". I was expecting to see a lot more red by now. Is this indeed a rotkeil? Got it from uncle Ned's fish factory about 8 months ago

It doesn't look like my Rotkiel. No red in the shoulder...
sometimes light colored gravel will bleach out patterns and colors on some fish- darker substrate might help bring out the reds
Here's my second one;
Still a cool fish, but when I see them side by each it's clear they are different species. Both were bought from the same shop, labelled and "red shoulder severum", albeit about 6 months apart.
In the store I thought I was getting a fish that would look like my other one once it settled it. But I'm still convinced they're different. I don't know what the second one is though.

My little rotkeil is only like 3" and already showing red and orange on chest and head. My notatus look nothing like this either so hmm idk that's a good question.

But I'm just curious what fish is the orange yellow guy on bottom right ?
It's a Guianacara sp. I'm not 100% certain of the actual species. I bought it as a 'Geayi', but I'm pretty sure it's not that.
Back to topic - I'm really curious about what the OP's severum is. The more I look at the photo the more I realize it looks like my second fish, right down to the freckles on the flank. I'll try to get a better photo tomorrow once the lights come back on.
