at what size are you guys seeing them strat to color up ???

i found some (or at least that is what it said on the tank) today that were between 3-3.5" and they were not showing any red yet. i thouhgt they should be showing the red by then so i passed on them.

also if you have some before and after pics please post them.

I have a green-ish sev that was sold as a rotkeil (thank God it was cheap), not showing any color at that size (3 inches or so). It is now about 6 or 7 inches and obviously not going to get the red head. Doesn't look like a common green sev, but might as well be one.

DrDo that is what i was trying to avoid.

the greens look great but not what i am wanting.

This is a pic from a different thread posted I a few days ago but one of my smaller Rotkeils would not get out of the shot. It's currently about 3.5" and is already starting to display allot of color for the size...

That looks like a female Heros notatus. I had a pair before I gave them up.

Mine started coloring up at around 3 inches. He's a little bigger now and continues to bet more beautiful. I noticed the reds when i first put mine in the tank at around 2.5 inches.
