router pass lost...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ok i have tried the hard reset it did reset from my old network name to a new numeric name...but it is STILL security enabled...i have tried the obvious passwords...the network is security enabled not the router i think...is there maybe a number i can call....

If you're trying to figure out the WEP or WPA key, you're going to be trying for a while. It's called security enabled for a reason:) I would reset it back to factory default by holding the black button until the lights start flashing

i did the reset but all that changed was when i look for wireless connect with laptop it went from porterhouse my old network name security enabled to a numeric name and still security enabled...so when i try to log on to the network it asks for a password.i dont remember my old pass thats why the reset and certainly dont know the new pass...i cant for the life of me get to my router..ive tried everything in all different sorts of way, as far as the routers ip in my explorer window, and just to make sure , when they say explorer window they mean address bar?...but i just cant seem to get to the router to change its settings..it...im lost

Right...And I'm saying look on the side of the router. It should say WEB ID, with a string of numbers/letters. OR it could say MAC ID, or something related.

I dunno, could just be mine though.

How long did you hold the reset button? If you just push it, it will just reboot it. Hold it for a long time and see if it helps.

If you connect to your router using the default gateway... you have a very weird router. It is the logical address for an outgoing connection. 192.168.1.1 is the common loop-back number for windows and it is what is used for most. Unfortunately WPA is very effective and can take even a good packet sniffing program 3-4 days to break a simple key.

P.s. default for most is admin/admin.

Try holding it longer, like stated above. If that doesn't help... it will make great trash-can fodder. Other than that, for the price you paid for that, it might not be worth saving...
