For those who own a Fx5, how often do you open your canister up and clean one of the bio media baskets? My fluval has been running on my 125 gallon tank for one year now. I opened it once at the six month mark and cleaned out the bottom of the canister and changed out one of the three baskets. My nitrates normally run about 20ppm, nitrites 0. Should I be cleaning the inside more often?

I'm running 2 fx5 with full bio media. I have 2 boxes of biomax in each tray.

I clean sponges once a month. I have ceramic rings in the two lower trays and filter pads on top which I also clean once a month.
Mine has been running for about 2 months an I just had to clean it out cause one of the polishing pad was pretty nasty an wasn't allowing the water to flow

I have 2 fx5's on my 215 and i clean them out every three months or so. I have them both filled with biomax.

I have one basket of ceramic rings and two baskets of biomax. I guess I need to clean it more frequently.
Do you replace all the biomax every three months? Or do you just do one basket every three months to preserve the bacteria?
