How do you tell the difference between royal clowns and regular clowns?

What is the normal price for them cuz they have some that are kinda on the border line of lines and spots at my lfs. I was considering growing one out for a bigger tank down the road or possibly just for the fun of it.

this is a royal

they go for around $40.00 at this size (9") or so. If the Knife you are questioning is still under 4" you can't tell if its a royal. All Clown knives start with stripes but noraml clowns stripes will start to turn to spots. Thats why they might be "borderline" stripes.

They are labeled as royals and the biggest one is probably about 4". Royals only grow to about 20" right? Thank you

i think royals get as big as regular clown knifes correctme if im wrong.

there is no difference in growth between royals and normal clowns. They are jsut a type of color morph

im thinking of geting one but dont know to much about them and how they do in a tank and with take mates
