Royals need wood and greens...
Very little protein. Your tank should be fine if the ACs don't pick on the current pleco, things should be OK. How big is the common?

Although for the most part this statement is true I found the larger the Royal is, (8"+)the more need his need becomes for protein...Mine love green mussels , Hikari Sinking Carnivore Pellets along with typical pleco staples
