The one in the pic looks to have the lines connected. A l191 is the broken line and the lines shouldnt be connecting. I have one as well that's roughly 6-7" eats on my drift wood and algae wafers. I haven't tried cucumbers or anything like cause of I have oscars and pbass with it and I know the oscars will chow that stuff down! Here is a more recent pic of my l191. I got from rapps btw.

Indeed very hardy fish, they feed on algae and dw.
