Royal pleco question.

I tried sinking pellets and wafers. Thought for sure he would eat driftwood. I never see him touch anything but glass. It's not like he is working the glass either. So it takes more than a month for him to settle? My L-91 works the driftwood during the day and at night he is all over the gravel. My royal is by far my favorite would hate to lose him.

Try dropping the waffers at night when lights are off...that's the time where pleco's will be most active.....what kinda wood do you have??? cause it's better if you have soft woods like malaysian driftwood compare to a hard mopani driftwood...just my 2 cents....

Yes hiding but not eating at all. Belly is sunkin. Tried moving him towards the driftwood in a dark spot. when i got home he went back to hiding behind the filter outtake.

try leaving a zuchinni in there overnight. They like to graze. What is your water temp? You might want to raise it to stimulate appetite. You can always try and hand feed frozen blood worms...GL

I agree witht the zuchinni idea. I had a similar issue with a L196 pleco, and the zucchinni worked wonders. I just rubber-band it to a rock and he goes for it once the lights go out. Dont blach it first, most people on here say thats a waste of time and takes out essential nutrients.

Tried zuchinni didn't work. When I move him to the wood he stays there all day next morning he goes back. He is super skinny now. I am worried that whenever I move him he gets stressed. I am really starting to worry what should I do?

How long did u leave the zucchini in there? Make sure you leave it at least over night, and sometimes if theyre not used to it they wont recognize it as food for a couple of nights, so try a new piec each night for at least 3 nights and see what happens. Does the pleco graze around at night at all?
