royal pleco ?'s

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The stickies are there because they have good info. Please use these as a tool. There is no need to get an attitude though, it will only lead to members not wanting to help you, and staff taking notice of you. The stickies do not include all info about everything there is. That is why we have threads. But the stickies are there to cover some of the most basic topics... which this topic is extremely basic.

i basically wanted to know what the size was when they start filling in the window. but i thought i'd get an idea of what people feed theirs seeing mine wont touch a few of the things listed and i have been told they are carnivorus but quite a few people feed them veggies.

They are not carnivores. You should feed a wide variety of hearty veggies. I use sweet potatoes, squash (pumpkin, zucchini, and butternut work well), and wood.

thanks for clearing that up. the only things i tried was lettuce and zucchini. him and the gold nugget like the zucchini but neither like the lettuce. and i think they are all set on the wood for their life time, if not yet it will be soon i love the driftwood look.

Be careful with that combo. The Gold nugget should have a good variety of foods in their diet, and a good amount of protein. The royal, however, should be kept away from too much protein.

both of them grab a little bit of shrimp before i vacuum it up and they eat alot of bloodworms too but i have cut that out of their diet for a little bit to get the others in my tank to eat market shrimp too. all my fish are carnivours. maybe i should just get rid of the royal. sounds like the safest route. any suggestions on a pleco that would go good with a gold nugget? vampire plec perhaps?
