You just need more flow, I used to have a real pleco poop issue until I added some powerheads and bumped up my return pump. Now it all goes into the prefilter

Yes I've add powerheads and I'm going to add a sieve to pre-filter poop out and may hook up another 4000gph pump to the set up.
