Hey guys. I was just wondering whether i could keep my RTC with my Koi?

your RTC will be much bigger than your koi in no time and become dinner when its mouth is big enough to fit it in :)

assuming rtc means red terror cichlid i would say i wouldnt do it even if they koi are to big to be eaten, they still will probably be harrassed.

he's talking about red tail catfish I am assuming
the catfish would be doable id think since it basically just sets around until it time to eat.

just make sure the koi are big enough not to get eaten

ive seen it done at a LFS. they had a huge pond with 30" koi and a few monster RTC. they lived together happily it seems.

I agree with the above statments.. If the koi aren't big enough to be eaten you should be ok.. But is your koi pond heated ??

As we are in the catfish section I think its safe to assume he means red tail catfish....

If the RTC is much smaller than the koi and grows up with them I would think it would be far less likely to "have a go" when its larger.

Also depends alot on the fish in question, some will happily try and eat anything and everything, some are happy to co-exist.

Personaly, I wouldnt trust one unless the koi were at a size where it would be physicaly impossible, as with all large catfish the risk will always be there.

My friends tried to eat a royal pleco that was pretty much the same size as the RTC, it got stuck and my m8 had to remove it from his mouth (the spines got stuck, both fish survived), if you had seen them together you would never have imagined it physicaly possible, but it managed it lol.
