i have a rtc and he is about 6" or 7" i was wondering if there is any type of food i can feed him so his tail gets redder. alot of people have told me that i just have to wait till it gets bigger, but i believe that there are certain foods that could increase the red pigment in his tail. By the way this is my first post and i just wanted to say hi. i have a 55 gal corner tank with 3 tinfoil barbs 4"-6", 4 clown loaches all about 4 inches long, a 6 in. clwon knife fish, a 5 in polypterus senegalus, a 5 in. striped catfish, a 5 in silver dollar, 3 4 in. filamentosa barbs, a 4 in red parrot, and a 4 in. blue acara

Let him get a few more inches on him and his tail will shine true. There are certain foods that are claimed to bring out brighter colors, but I just feed mine shrimp and leave the shells on just a few. Seems to keep him nice and dark unless he gets spooked.

i am feeding mine carnivore pellets, rosies, and when available earthworms ( just not during the winter cause it is like impossible to dig them from the ground) does it sound like a good diet
Yeh sounds fine to me...u dont really need the earthworms though...the fish and the pellets seem more than enuf. maybe even sum shrimp now and then for sum variation. try and stick with dead frozen food or pellets cause it seriously cuts down the chance of disease spread and even the costs!

Totally agree. Worms are fine, just don't do it often. Some say it's a natural laxative. Might be ok if you notice they are having some trouble with digestion, or if they swallow something they are not supposed to.

everywhere i read online it says that a TSN will live in a 180g, is this true? i dont see how it is....also my LFS has a awesome RTCxTSN will he grow as big as the RTC?

WRONG no way it can live in a 180. and the RTC/TSN hybrid will grow faster and probably even larger than a RTC due to hybrid vigour!

thats what i thought, im going to assume u were also talkin about the regular TSN living in a 180

I would just like to add. TSN get huge this one is at the London Aquarium its over 3 ft long all the fish in this display were donated to them. If you don’t intend to keep theses fish for life please don’t purchase one a RTC and TSN are for life not for your local Aquarium. A lot of aquarium are now refusing theses fish so think long and hard before purchasing one. Also with the correct conditions they live a very long time.
