So i just bought a 2 inch- 2.5 inch RTC online and was wondering how to get my tank ready for him? The rtc will be sharing the tank with my smallmouth catfish (also roughly 2 inches). Anything will help so thank you for your time!

Smallmouth bass*

Be prepared to get a BIG tank or large pond if ur planning to keep him long term. Wen I add fish I feed before hand and then do a water change, acclimate then add... Do not open that bag until ur about to take him out
He’s going to be sharing a 20 gallon for about a week. I am almost done building my pond which is roughly 1300 gallons. Also thank you for the tips, I’ll post pictures of the little guy once he arrives!

Awesome! Just make sure the smb doesn't get eaten as the cat grows, good foods for rtc: pellets, fish, crayfish, shrimp, insects, earthworms , etc

I'm not sure on how to insure that but i should be able to get away with meal worms and pellets for the first few months with the rtc? correct me if im wrong. I want to be fully prepared to raise this fish correctly!

IDK the dimensions ur building but 1300 seems small for a rtc

What i looked up said 1,000 gallons is min. for full grown RTC. Might be wrong but ive made the depth 3 ft deeper then before. So might be looking around 2k gallons.

I have a 9 year old RTC in a 3000 gallon pond. if you are going with 1300 try to go shallow 30" with more area to swim. You will want to add larger fish NOW. Arrowana, Clown knife, Pacu, Alligator Gar etc. The RTC will grow MUCH faster than all of those and will swallow them if he can. I would make sure any fish you add should be at least 18".
